VR Launches ELM Elections Training Nationwide
Online Training Platform Specifically Designed for the Unique Needs of the Elections Community

TALLAHASSEE, FL – December 15, 2015 – Building on its mission to streamline and support the integrity of elections, VR announced today that it introduced its comprehensive elections learning program, ELM Systems®, to the national market. ELM has been successfully used by Florida jurisdictions for several years to support elections worker training and management.

ELM utilizes the latest technologies and learning methodologies to create a powerful, simple-to-use online training platform. The program assists elections directors by reducing the costs associated with training and compliance and subsequently freeing resources and time to focus on other aspects of running an election.

“Through ELM, VR captures the advantages of online training for the elections community,” said Adam Ragan, Director of Elections, Gaston County, North Carolina. “ELM adds a level of flexibility and convenience for our elections workers that has not been available in the past. With ELM’s management and monitoring tools we can be confident that our workers are fully prepared on elections day.”

Gaston County, North Carolina is one of ELM’s first customers outside of Florida. Gaston has implemented the program to support the preparation of poll workers for upcoming anticipated elections in 2016 and has begun utilizing the system to train an expected 500 poll workers. ELM can accommodate any number of elections workers and has the scalability to grow with customers.

ELM offers the following features and benefits:

  • Ability for elections directors to design and create customized comprehensive training and learning modules for election workers;
  • Broad but intuitive tools for administrators to assign classes, monitor class completion, pass/fail rates and compliance;
  • Web accessibility which eliminates the need for in-person class staffing for elections jurisdictions and travel costs for workers;
  • Access to the ELM library, an online sharing portal which can be utilized by different jurisdictions to share and access a broad range of content.

A wide range of courses can be presented through ELM but typically range from voting equipment set-up, polling place procedures (such as opening and closing steps), required compliance courses and epollbook training. The election workers will see only the courses they have been assigned, are able to track their courses and scores and can stop or start a course at any time.

“As a company exclusively focused on elections for the past 25 years, we understand the challenges elections directors face when training and organizing temporary elections workers during elections cycles,” said Mindy Perkins, CEO of VR Systems. “ELM is a tool to simplify life for those who manage elections and for those who work to support them. ELM allows election directors to focus on the core operations of running an election to ensure an efficient, positive voter experience.”
